Plater – Hunterston B
Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Plater to join the team at Hunterston B for the upcoming project.
The work pattern for this position is, Monday – Friday, 38 hours. This is a fixed term position which requires BPSS clearance or higher. Starting 1st September 2026 until 17th December 2026 approx.
The position is paid under NAECI agreements. Pay rate: £23.45 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
- To ascertain job requirements from drawings or other specifications.
- To mark out and develop profiles on plate, structural steelwork and pipework.
- To produce templates for marking and/or drilling.
- To produce angled fabrications using bending or folding machinery.
- To form rolled steel sections using section rolling machinery.
- To set out plate work for structural steelwork fabrication.
- To produce and install structural steelwork fabrications.
- To produce and install plate work assemblies of square, rectangular, cylindrical or conical form.
- To produce and install heavy steelwork beams or sections.
- To produce and install structural lattice girders.
- To use manual metal arc welding to weld fabrications or structural steelwork.
- To use straight line and profile cutting machines.
- To operate overhead crane in a safe manner using basic slinging.
- To carryout Stand-by and fire watch duties.
- To adhere to all safety requirements including safety checks of tools and equipment.
- To use Oxy/fuel hand burning/heating/cutting equipment.
- To use all relevant workshops/site equipment associated with job requirements including all relevant training/certification requirements
Key Requirements
- You will have completed a recognized training programme and have experience within the oil & gas industry or other continuous process industry.
- Appropriate qualifications such as CompEx, City & Guilds, ONC/HNC or equivalent should be held.
- Must be BPSS cleared or willing to undergo clearance

- NVQ level 3
