  • About The Role

  • Altrad are seeking an experienced and technically capable Construction Manager / Lead to support the installation and delivery of the HPC MEH Pipework scope on site, through to handover to commissioning.

    This role will be based at Hinkley Point C on a permanent basis and is a site delivery position, requiring the ability to work effectively under programme and schedule pressures to resolve technical issues and maintain continuity of work by installation teams. Working as part of the wider MEH construction leadership team and reporting to the Mechanical Lead, you will support the delivery of pipework installation while ensuring effective integration with other areas, disciplines and the wider construction team.

    Key Deliverables / Accountabilities:

    • Support the installation activities of the HPC MEH Pipework scope on site through collaboration and coordination with site teams, through to handover to commissioning.
    • Support Area and Building Leads and Construction Engineers with day-to-day construction planning, engineering and works progression.
    • Utilise the 16WLA to ensure material deliveries are understood and required documentation is in place to support planned works.
    • Take accountability for the delivery of discipline-specific Construction Work Pack scopes to support MEH construction activities.
    • Engage with constructability activities, working with Building Engineers where required to facilitate efficient sequencing and installation.
    • Manage project change within the pipework discipline, ensuring the appropriate project change process is followed, including construction documentation and contractual scope changes.
    • Manage and resolve technical issues relating to pipework installation and construction activities.
    • Prepare and manage documentation required for pipework erection activities, ensuring all documents comply with the latest Works Information and relevant MEH documentation.
    • Support the management and resolution of Technical Queries and construction Open Points.
    • Coordinate engineering activities required to support the construction sequence.
    • Identify and implement improvements to construction processes and ways of working, including the effective use of site-based redlining processes.
    • Ensure the requirements of post-construction activities are integrated into the construction sequence, including supporting the completion team.
    • Support the review and acceptance of Commissioning Test Packs to ensure a smooth transition from construction into commissioning.
    • Work collaboratively with counterparts across the other MEH disciplines to ensure effective coordination and integration of construction activities.
    • Support the wider construction leadership team in maintaining programme, quality, safety and delivery objectives.

    Key Requirements / Qualifications:

    • Degree in a relevant construction discipline; or
    • Extensive experience in pipework installation within a similar role; or
    • 10 years' experience in a site construction management role.
    • Working knowledge of pipework systems and installation.
    • Good knowledge and understanding of CDM Regulations.
    • CCNSG Safety Passport or MAPS.
    • Capable of obtaining BPSS or higher security clearance.
    • Proven experience in safely delivering large-scale construction or engineering projects, including experience working at a management level of authority.
    • Experience within the heavy industry or nuclear sectors is beneficial.
    • Experience working within Joint Venture environments is advantageous.
    • Strong technical understanding of pipework construction and installation activities.
    • Ability to work effectively under programme pressure and resolve technical issues to maintain continuity of construction activities.
    • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary construction and engineering teams.
