Welder A
Altrad are currently looking for experienced Welders to join the team for Outage Works.
This role will involve working 13 Days On, 1 Day Off – 12 Hour Shifts, Mobilisation Start Date 12/10/2026
The position is paid under NAECI agreement, with lodge and travel paid where applicable.
Key Deliverables:
• Carry out welding activities on safety-critical components and high-integrity pipework in accordance with approved welding procedures and specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, isometric drawings and contract specifications to determine work requirements.
• Prepare materials, welding consumables and equipment prior to commencing welding activities, ensuring all safety requirements are met.
• Assemble and set up welding equipment using approved procedures and safe working practices.
• Perform TIG, MMA and FCAW welding processes on a variety of materials and pipework systems.
• Weld large bore and small bore pipework to the required quality, dimensional and technical standards.
• Inspect weld preparations and completed weld joints using approved inspection methods.
• Identify welding defects, variations and non-conformances and take corrective action where required.
• Support the inspection of weld joints produced by pipefitters and other fabrication personnel.
• Complete quality documentation and support final visual and volumetric testing activities.
• Work in accordance with permits to work, risk assessments, method statements, POWRA requirements and site safety procedures.
• Store and manage welding consumables, equipment and materials in accordance with company procedures.
• Reinstate equipment and work areas to a safe condition following completion of welding activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and reporting issues, defects and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide guidance and support to Welding Trainees where required.
• Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and workmanship at all times.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, chargehands, engineers, clients, subcontractors and regulatory representatives.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
• General secondary education or equivalent.
• Completed a recognised Welding Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification.
• NVQ Level 3 in Welding, ACE Card or equivalent industry-recognised certification.
• Current welding qualifications to ISO 9606, ASME IX or equivalent standards relevant to the project requirements.
• Valid CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent site-required safety certification.
• IOSH Managing Safely certification is desirable.
• Minimum two years' experience as a production welder within an industrial environment.
• Demonstrable experience welding high-integrity pipework and safety-critical components.
• Proficient in TIG, MMA and FCAW welding processes.
• Experience welding large bore and small bore pipework across a range of materials.
• Experience within the oil & gas, petrochemical, thermal power generation or nuclear sectors is desirable.
• Understanding of human performance principles and safe working practices.
• Ability to read and interpret welding specifications, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Critical task training and site-specific authorisations as required by the project.
