Position Summary
The Plater Advanced performs plating and fabrication operations for safety-critical components in various industrial environments. This position focuses on the shaping, assembly, and installation of plate and structural steel work while meeting contractual, technical, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Read, interpret, and work from engineering and general arrangement drawings.
Develop clear fabrication plans and select appropriate tools and equipment.
Cut, prepare, shape, fabricate, and assemble plate and structural steel work according to specifications.
Assemble and install components using secure methods such as welding, bolting, or riveting.
Carry out fabrication shop assembly tasks, including burning, grinding, skin casing, duct work, hangers, and supports.
Mark out and check work using appropriate methods, ensuring all dimensions meet specifications.
Perform sequence checks on materials, installations, and fabrications, identifying defects and taking corrective actions as needed.
Prepare the work area, materials, and equipment following safety procedures and ensure the area is ready for engineering activities.
Reinstate work areas by separating and storing equipment and materials for reuse or disposal, leaving the area safe and tidy.
Adhere to safe systems of work, including permits, risk assessments, and all health and safety policy procedures.
Report progress, issues, and identified improvements clearly and promptly.
Maintain continual improvement by actively monitoring quality and efficiency and suggesting process enhancements.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, clients, subcontractors, and regulators.
Demonstrate adaptability and cooperation within team environments.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Completed apprenticeship in relevant trade or equivalent vocational qualification in plating or fabrication.
Hold current safety passport training.
Possess a minimum of 12 months hands-on experience in plate and steelwork fabrication.
Understand and apply fabrication and plating techniques, methods, and equipment safely and effectively.
Experience in the engineering construction industry, preferably on major industrial plant projects such as power stations, refineries, or process installations.
Demonstrate competency in maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Communicate clearly and professionally to various stakeholders internally and externally.
Display strong manual skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions.
Apply a sound understanding of human performance and workplace safety.
Adapt to change and seek continual improvement in work processes and outcomes.
